1. INTRODUCTION & PRE TEST ( 1st)

CPD - Continous Proficiency development
12 sessions - 2 1/2 hours per session = total 30 hours
1 mentor 12-15 mentee
pre test for mentor

DAY 2 - 6/5/2014
1. VOCABULARY
- 1 session - 2 1/2 hours
7 topics
- allowed to improvise the lesson BUT keep to the original outline of th
e lesson
2. WRITING
- the last skills to be taught to the mentees
- 2 sessions - 5 hours
3. READING - PHONICS ( 4th)
- 1 session only - 2 1/2 hours
- focus only on the initial sounds
4. LISTENING AND SPEAKING ( 2nd & 3rd )
- 2 sessions - 5 hours
- Listening skills (2.1) - encourage the mentee to lead the activity if
possible
- Speaking skills - encourage them to talk, do role play.
- picture dictation
- make sure the session is lively...and all mentees are participating an
d do the talking

DAY 3 - 7/5/2014
1. LISTENING AND SPEAKING - cOMMUNICATION SKILLS

- 1 session 2 1/2 hours

- types of communication ( classroom instructions)
- role play - real life situation
- wh- question
play the jeopardy game - provide answer...request mentee to come
up with possible wh question
2. READING COMPREHENSION
- 1 session - 2 1/2 hours
- the strategies
3. GRAMMAR
- 2 sessions - 5 hours
- parts of speech :- preposition dance / pronoun story /
4. GRAMMAR

DAY 4 - 8/5/2014
1. ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR GRAMMAR
- VERB
use verb-to-be if the sentence in malay is not using a verb
sample : Lily cantik
Lily is beautiful.
- the structure of active and passive voice
20 = 12 active + 8 passive
- the rules for sentence structure.
2 INTEGRATATION OF L,S,R & W SKILLS - 2 1/2 hours
- bear in mind that pre school teachers are NOT english teachers
- how to integrate the skills
- can adapt and adopt anything for integration
