President's Note - Bridget Beal

Event Spotlight: Easter Egg Hunting at Solvang!

Since I joined MOMS Club in October 2011 my heart for MOMS Club has
grown from just being a place to gab about sleep schedules and potty
training with other moms to really becoming a place where Moms Offer
Moms Support and building lasting friendships. Being a mom is an all
consuming gift, which is sometimes (or most of the time, depending on
the day) very exhausting. I notice myself getting so caught up in what
other moms are doing for their children and if I dont add up then I feel
like a bad mom. When my identity is only being a mom my whole identity
is crushed and let me tell you, it hurts and it sucks!

Solvang Retirement Center is always a great place to visit! They usually

host us for Halloween and Easter where they provide a little snack and
trick or treating and egg hunts. The residents especially love seeing all
the sweet kiddos.

We all have something outside of being a mom that we can place our
identity in which is why we (the 2014/2015 Board) wanted to feature our
April member meeting on what makes all of us More Than A Mom.
Members brought things to present that showed us their hobbies and
passions outside of motherhood. It was a great opportunity to get to
know more about each other!

I'm not a big bread maker, but this one's so simple I had to try it. It was
delicious, especially with the recommended oregano and butter on top.
My only modifications would be to knead it twice and bake at a lower
temp for slightly longer. WONDERFUL taste, and saves you a trip to
Market of Choice for fresh baked bread when dinner guests are coming.
Enjoy!

Moment On Mom Spotlight: Sarah Hotaling

May's Moment on a Mom Spotlight features Sarah Hotaling.
Sarah was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but moved to North Dakota and
then Montana. Most of her childhood was spent in Butte, Montana. She
went to Montana Tech in Butte and majored in Mathematical Science and
Statistics. She met her fiance, Jason, in school and they both graduated
in May of 2013. He got a job with Georgia Pacific in Halsey, so they
moved to Oregon.
Sarah was seven months pregnant when she graduated, eight months
pregnant when they moved to Eugene and then had her daughter Olive
the next month. 2013 was a busy year for her family!
From high school until she moved to Oregon, Sarah taught tap and jazz
to kids aged 312. She says it was the best job ever!
Her favorite thing about being a Mom is all the cuddles and hugs from
her daughter. She loves playing with her daughter and watching her use
her imagination and learn. She really loves watching her grow.

Sarah enjoys running and is training for the Eugene Half Marathon on
Mother's Day. She also enjoys reading, crocheting, and dancing...
although now it is just in her living room.

parks as well as visiting all the different breweries and restaurants. She
loves good beer and food and is happy to have found lots of it in
Eugene! Her favorites are Oakshire and Hop Valley.
Sarah joined MOMS Club in August. She loves meeting all the moms and
appreciates all the different personalities and interests. She has enjoyed
getting out of the house and having adult conversations while Olive can
play with kids her own age.
