a choice or disease?
-ALCOHOL CAN BE USED QUICKLY
AND IS QUICKLY TRANSPORTED TO
THE BRAIN. THE BRAIN IS THEN
AFFECTED IN VARIOUS WAYS.
-ALCOHOL NOT ONLY AFFECTS THE

Choice?
CHOICE:
-You have the ability to choose what
is right and what is wrong.
-You Train your mind to know what is
the correct thing to do and what is
not
-The fact you decide to do again over
& Over is proving it is a choice.

Which do you
believe it is?
Disease or a Choice?

Why did it come about?

-Drinking has been a continuous action
since way back when.
-In Greece, they held a four-day
festival that consisted of drinking. This
is about the time where drinking
developed.
-Some people drink for celebration and
happiness, others drink
because of sadness, pain, and anger.

Examining the issue:

-When looking at the issue of
alcoholism and addiction, you have
to look at the outcomes of it. None
of the results in these actions are
positive.
-Some negative things are:
1. Not being able to function properly.
2. drinking and driving.
3. Symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, anxiety,

Examining the issue:

-Drinking is looked down upon when
you are addicted to it and become in
a position that will not only put
yourself in danger, but others.

people become binge drinkers, and
alcoholics, due to personal issues
within their life.

2. Viewpoints, pros, and cons

the funny thing about
addiction and alcoholism is that
neither one has positive
viewpoints. alcoholics and
substance addicts never choose
to have an addiction, as its
controlled by brain chemistry.
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO

WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS

AND WEAKNESSES?
Strengths of the problem (meaning,
what makes it exist, why is it still
around?):
-Dopamine is released in the brain,
which makes people feel good
-People can become dependent on a
substance for happiness and/or health
Weaknesses of the problem:
-Dopamine reducing medication can be
used to help end and prevent addiction

WHAT ARE THE

DISADVANTAGES?

Due to dependence on a substance,

when an individual cannot get his or her
fix of a product that he or she is addicted
to they can become desperate for the
substance that he or she needs.
Desperation can lead to one doing just
about anything to get what he or she
may want, which includes murder, theft,
and even selling his or her own children.
Another side effect of all addictive
products is that when an individual stops

FUTURE HELP OR HINDER

SOCIETY?
Research done by the National
Institute on Drug Abuse shows that
within the last year, alcohol and drug
usage has decreased in teenagers and
young adults. At this rate, less
individuals will be purchasing drugs and
alcohol, which over time, could diminish
the money of Mexican Drug Cartels,
prevent second-hand effects, and allow

three dollars off of the judge for him, to keep
from getting a cowhiding. Every time he got
money he got drunk; and every time he got
drunk he raised Cain around town; and every
time he raised Cain he got jailed.-Huck

3. Projecting the Future

- The stakeholders:
- sellers
- creators
- investors
- Since more people are becoming
aware of the dangers of alcohol,
theyre staying away from it or are
reducing their intake of it. With less
people wanting them, the sellers will

Recommendations/Projections
for the Future
For the future, I believe that more
programs will be created to promote no
alcohol or at least to be more careful of
how much you drink. Also, more
organizations and addiction centers will
open up to aide those who are addicted
and lead them towards a healthier life.
If you are to drink, be smart and pay
attention to how much youre drinking.

Solutions/Alternatives

- The best way to avoid becoming

alcoholic is to avoid drinking all
together.
- However, if thats not possible, limit
yourself to how much you drink. It
doesnt matter what type of alcoholic
drink you have, what matters is how
much alcohol you consume.
- ex. One 12-ounce beer has about
the same amount of alcohol as one

What we
can
do...
- One
thing we can
do to help those
who are addicted
is to make

programs or
rehab centers
more affordable.
- Parents should
