Materials: Goods and Services Flipchart, Whiteboards, Markets, Erasers

Prior Knowledge: Students have previously discussed the relationships between supply,
demand and price.
Lesson Beginning: The teacher will begin the lesson by showing a video Tis the season
to fight it out for a toy on the ActivBoard. The teacher will then lead a discussion about
the video based on the economic principles the class has currently been discussing.
Instructional Plan:
1. Once the video is complete, the teacher will proceed to hand out all materials
including whiteboards, markers and erasers.
2. The teacher will explain they will be playing a Supply and Demand game on the
ActivBoard using their individual whiteboards to write out their responses.

3. The teacher will read each problem out loud several times and give students
sentence starters to help them begin their responses. She will remind students to
use the appropriate vocabulary and thoroughly explain their answers.
4. When students appear finished with their answers, the teacher will count down
from 5 to 1 and then have students hold up their boards for the teacher to view.
5. The teacher will complete the first problem with the class as a model. She will
work through the question with the class and explain the answer.
6. For the next two problems, the teacher will instruct students to turn to a neighbor
and discuss the question/possible responses before writing down their answers.
7. Problems 4-8 will be answered individually.
8. Once the teacher has read through the displayed responses, she will ask if anyone
wants to share their answer with the class. She will allow several students to share
for each question.
9. The teacher will give full explanations of each problem as well as answer any
additional questions.
Closure: Once the activity is completed, the teacher will instruct students to put their
whiteboards and markers down. She will then go to the last slide of the flipchart, which
will display 3 final reflection questions. The teacher will answer these questions with the
class. They will reinforce and review the main economic ideas discussed.
Differentiation: The teacher will monitor the students during the problem activity by
walking around, reading student responses, and offering additional support where needed.
She will also probe students for more, well rounded, complete answers.
