Meghan Trainor Biography

Meghan Elizabeth Trainor is an American singer-songwriter.

Early Life
Meghan was born in Nantucket, Massachusetts on the 22 nd of December 1993. She has two
brothers and was raised by her parents Gary and Kelli Trainor. Meghans father was also a musician
who taught music and played the organ in the local church.

Early Performing and Songwriting life

Meghan first performed live in 2004 at her aunt and uncles wedding when she played Heart and
Soul on the piano. Then at 12 she started performing in a party band with her family. When she
was 13 she first composed her own song, Give me a chance. Her father taught her to play the
guitar and exposed her to a wide range of musical styles. When she was in the eighth grade, her
family moved to North Eastham, Massachusetts. Here she attended High School, learnt guitar and
was a member of a jazz band for 3 years. She had a home studio and independently worked there
recording music. In high school, she landed a contract with a Nashville music publishing company
and started writing songs for other artists from all over the world. At fifteen, Meghan enrolled into
the 2009 summer performance program at Berkley College of music. There she reached the finals
of the song writing competition.

Albums.
On 25th December 2009, Meghan produced her first album which was self-titled and self-released.
In 2011, she also released two acoustic albums. Throughout 2010 and 2011 she participated in
songwriting contests across the United States. Meghan struggled as a young songwriter, because
no one in Los Angeles was interested in working with her. However in 2014 Meghan met producer
and songwriter Kevin Kadish. With Kevin she co-wrote All About That Bass. Meghan performed the
song for Epic records on a ukulele but her big break came when she hired Troy Carter as her
manager and on June 30th 2014 All About That Bass was released. Quickly the music video went
viral and All About That Bass became number one in 58 countries and was one of the bestselling
singles of all time. More than 6 million copies were within six months of its release . Her second
single, "Lips Are Movin", was released on October 21, 2014.

Songwriting Career
Meghan has written songs for Grammy-winning country superstars Rascal Flatts, Grammynominated country artist Hunter Hayes, reggae/rock/R&B group Common Kings and Hot Chelle Rae
singer Ryan Folles.

Musical Influences
Meghans first and most important influence was her father. Other strong influences Bruno Mars
and Frank Sinatra

Other Achievements
In November 2014, Meghan was a guest mentor on the seventh season of American series The
Voice.
Meghan was listed as the fourth most Trending Music Artist in Google's Year in Search for 2014.

Whats next for Meghan Trainor?

Recently signed to Epic Records, Meghan is now gearing up to release a debut album that brings
her intense flair for indelible melody to her own blend of throwback hip-hop, classic pop, and beatheavy Caribbean music.
