xylophonecanmakethelongestandclearestsoundpossible.Thedisplacedaircarriesthe
energyofthepipetoyourear,whereitisreformattedsoyourbraincaninterpretit.The
metalpipesareveryresonantsotheyarepleasingandproduceclear,longnotes.Longer
pipesdisplacemoreair,whichleadstogreaterwavelengthsanddeepernotes.

wavelength,andthusdeepenthenotes.Normally,awindinstrumentwouldbeverylongif
youusedtheentirewavelength,howeverbecauseyoucreateahighpressurezonewhere
youblow,ittakesaofawavelengthtodecreasethepressuretonormal,whichquartersthe
