Learning Process
Teacher prepares a video in GoAnimate. She mentions general cleaning by using two characters in video. When children
comes to class, she says that there is a message from two children and add that They want to talk with you! Lets meet them.
She starts the animation. The talk is like;
-Hi children! Do you know us?
-We are students and we need your help so we will ask some questions to you. Could you help us?
-Thank you so much!
-When we wake up in the morning, firstly what should we do? I generally forgot what I should do?
-That is right, we did so. Then we should make a breakfast, should not? After the breakfast, we went to the park.
-In the park, I had toothache. Do you think what did this happened?
-Yes thats right. We should brush our teeth twice a day after breakfast and before sleeping.
- I have another question. I played with my friends in the park. When I turned back to home, I was very dirty. Then, my mom
warned me about something. What could it be?
- Yes, we should take a bath, you are absolutely right. Taking bath is important because we get rid of microbes. We become
hunter of microbes!
- We should also brush our hair. Hold it, brush your hair and have soft hair
- So, what we should do while make your toilet?
- Waouv, you are awesome. We should wash our hands before and after toilet. Do not forget to flush the toilet guys!
- When do you wash your hands? Do you go to lunch without washing your hands?
- You should not forget. Microbes are everywhere! Please wash your hands after painting, playing and toilet.
- Now, we have a song for you guys. Nice to meet you. See you later.

After they listen to characters, teacher says that Now, we will be a microbe hunters and hunt microbes in our classes. She wants
them to do broom with found materials. (She provides them different cardboards with different colours, stickers, crayons, water
colours, different fabrics and etc.) She opens a slow music and waits them to create their own brooms. She printed big microbes
pictures and cut blank page. These printings should have pocket. (Teacher could create it.) Inside of the pocket, there are
different pictures children should match. She hides microbes in different places of classroom. There are hook and pile on
microbe pictures. She sticks one hook and pile on childrens broom. Children start to hunt microbes with their broom. When they
find, they have to stick microbes on broom with the help of hook and pile. When they collect all microbes, they remove the
pictures in order to match. For example, in one picture, there is a child who is dirty. Children should match it with bathtub. There
are decayed tooth in one picture and they should match it with toothbrush and toothpaste pictures. When they finish combine
pictures, they talk about cleaning on them. After the activity, teacher gathers children and asks assessment questions to them.

Teacher could use different web 2.0 tools like
Powtoon for video. S/he could prepare a map in
Pictochart which children follow during hunting.

If there is a child with hearing


impairment, teacher should arrange
childrens place according to this childs
need. It could be difficult to understand
what

characters

said

from

the

GoAnimate. When teacher stops the


video, she repeats the questions and
then let children answer. Maybe she
directs

questions

individually.

In

matching part, teacher should request


children to tell why they match these
pictures. She repeats childrens answer
in next of this child. By asking him or
her to tell the pictures, teacher control
his/her understanding of the topic.
