1984

Out of all the novels, plays, poems, and characters we have learned this year,
1984 has been the most meaningful one to me. The warning that George Orwell gave
us about how our government would be in the future or currently today. The novel gave
us little hints about how the government would control us and overuse their power.
Throughout the novel, I learned that Orwell was right all along and that government
would find ways to take over the humans.
Orwell told us that BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU(Chapter 1, Pg.3). In the
novel the people had to have telescreens in their house so that the government would
know every little thing that you would do or talk about. During this part of the book made
me realize that our government is trying to use their power and trying to know what
everyone is doing. Today , with technology , government has and is knowing what you
did, what you are doing, and what you are about to do. Phones being recorded, data
being stored, and having no privacy at all. The government do this because they want to

safe by stopping terrorism and dangerous people doing bad and harmful stuff like nine
eleven. Also with technology, you dont control it yourself, but with the government.
We control matter because we control the mind. Reality is the inside of the
skull.(Chapter 3, Pg.268) The government in 1984 tried to force you to learned the way
they wanted you to do. 2+2=5 was an example of what they would make to learn it,
understand it, and accept it. Our education is exactly the same, such as learning how
the book says or how the teacher tells you to. English, Math, History, and all the other
subjects are like to follow what they say because its right and will be right for the rest of
our lives. I realized that Orwell is right, and wondering what will happen over the next
years and how will education be like and if the government will have more power and
how would they use it.
In conclusion , Orwells warning to us is right and that us humans need to take
action and stop letting government overuse their power and know their limit. We need to
stand up for our rights and for our freedom and let the government take nothing from us
because we are the people of the United States of America and have our rights to fight
for our freedom. If we dont do nothing and believe in everything they say and follow all
their commands, we could end up like the novel of nineteen eighty-four. All humans
being surveillance, having no freedom, and have Big Brother be our God.
