Paideia Seminar Reflection Lamb to the Slaughter

During the seminar, we discussed the short story Lamb to the
Slaughter by Roald Dahl. There were various assumptions made for the
question asking What thematic association is seen throughout the short
story? How do you know? Where do you see it? that I had found thoughtprovoking. I myself said betrayal was the theme used throughout the story.
The theme is betrayal because not only did Patrick leave Mary when she was
pregnant but Mary killed Patrick and then deceived the police officers so she
would not be penalized. Anthony said revenge was the theme. Anthony said
the theme is revenge because Mary wanted revenge on Patrick for leaving
her when she loves him so much. Another topic brought up that caught my
attention and caused a debate was when Savannah and Alex asked if the
detectives would catch the killer. I say they most likely will not because they
have already ate the murder weapon but on the other hand they may be able
to see the time at which Patrick had died and saw that Mary had gone to the
grocery store after his death, making her a suspect. This seminar made me
wonder if a perfect murder was really possible.
