Abstract: Generally speaking, underground structures have the stronger seismic resistance
performance compared to ground-level structures. However, seismic disasters of mountain tunnels
were fairly conspicuous during Wenchuan earthquake in 2008. Setting steel bar in tunnel liner and
replacing traditional concrete with foam concrete as effectual means had been widely used in
aseismic design of tunnel. Based on the analysis of aseismic mechanism of liner structure as
tunnels pass through geological active fracture belts, the paper presents a valid tunnel structure to
relieve or resist seismic damage to tunnels. The aseismic effect of the tunnel structure to avoid
severe seismic damage has been assessed by numerical simulation relying on ABAQUS, which
makes sure the validity and rationality of the new tunnel structure.
