Tratar de reflejar en una exposicién las excelencias de Gran Canaria es tarea imposible, porque haria falta una superficie tan grande como la isla misma. Por consiguiente, lo que aqui se offecen son slo unas pocas pinceladas, intentando combinar la abundancia de informacién con el espacio disponible, en una visi6n limitada por el hecho de no ser i enamorado de sus paisajes y de sus gentes, Pese a que el Museo ELDER esta dedicado a la Ciencia y a la Tecnologia, no he podido resistir la tentacion de extender la exposicién hacia otros aspectos que, estimo, son de interés para el visitante y quiz también para el resident engarzindolo todo en un contexto geografico. Mi intencién es, por una parte, animar a explorar y descubrir sin prisas los miles de rincones de la isla y, por otra, recordar a los que cada dia viven en ella el priv los innumerables valores que suelen pasar desapercibido: Deseo desde aqui agradecer el apoyo recibido por parte de las instituciones de la Isla, especialmente al Cabildo ya todos y cada uno de los ayuntamientos y a sus técnicos, y a la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
