Differentiated Lesson Plan

-

For our unit on weather and climate in Canadian Geography, I

have made up two tests to assess the students knowledge
and understanding of the material. The first test in this
document is for most of the class and consists of basic recall
questions as well as some higher order thinking questions that
will test the students knowledge and critical thinking skills. I
designed it to be approximately the same length as some
other example tests that I took a look that other people made.
The second test in this document is a test for the group of
boys in the class that are all on modified programs. They are
all pretty low-functioning when it comes to reading and
writing so I tried to cater it to their skills and abilities. What I
noticed from that group of boys throughout the unit was that
they all are able to contribute to basic conversations about
the weather and climate and can form some decent opinions
and observations. I gave them each 10 true or false questions
that will tap into things we discussed in class so I feel like they
will be able to answer them without any real difficulty. I also
gave them some reading comprehension type questions
where they will be given the notes to hopefully help answer
the rest of the questions on the test that involve some writing.
Their test is significantly shorter than the rest of the class due

to their disabilities that do not allow them to process and

produce information as quickly, but I am confident that they
will all be able to finish within the given timeframe.
Differentiating lesson plans for this unit was really quite
enjoyable because unlike some students that I teach, the boys
really seem to enjoy being here and being active participants
in class. I built a really good relationship with them throughout
my internship and I hope I have had some sort of positive
impact on their social and educational life in the short time I
had to work with them.
