UNIT REFLECTION: POLITICAL

REVOLUTION
ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY:
1. In your own words, explain the social contract.
The agreement between government and citizens. Government must protect
citizens rights and safety and limit citizens behaviors, citizens need to follow the
law.

2. Think about the revolution that you researched. How was the social contract
broken in that revolution?
In French Revolution, Government didnt care about lower classs life and lower
class didnt have equal rights as upper. Government ran out of money and
wanted to increase the taxes without lower classs contempt.

3. What impact did the breaking of the social contract have on the society in your
researched nation?
People was dissatisfaction with the Government. The lower class was starving while
upper class lived in luxury.

4. At the beginning of the unit we discussed the role of and our relationship with
our government. Does the idea of a social contract actually apply between us
and our government today? Explain your thinking.

Yes. Our government did a great job in protecting citizens liberty. And citizens
limit governments power by the election .

5. New ideas were a major contributing factor in the revolutions you researched.
What ideas would we consider new (from the last 20 50 years or so) that our
governments are having a tough time dealing with? Ex. Gay marriage.
The gasoline between Alberta and BC. It transformed lots of gas to BC to sell
oversea .In the one hand it created more jobs and promoted the economics, in
the other hand the pollution caused by the gas spilling may ruin the environment
which threat the quality of peoples lives and traveling in Canada .

6. Do you think any of these ideas will contribute to the government breaking the
social contract with its citizens? Explain your thinking.
No, if government respect every citizens right and be equal and fair to everyone.

7. In each of the revolutions you researched there came a breaking point. A time
when the people would no longer stand by while their government continued on
doing what they were doing. Do you have a breaking point with our
government? What is that breaking point and why is it a breaking point for you?

I used to have a breaking point to my national country. They build a huge chemical
factory near our city that made our sky covered with grey smoke and severe air
pollution.

8. List at least three questions that you have concerning political revolution in
general or the revolution you researched specifically.
1. How the upper class reacted or did to prevent the revolution?
2. Why the women didnt stand up for their own rights but for familys hungry?
3. Why other monarchs in the countries nearby didnt support Louis against the
enlightenment ideas(revolution)?
