Susan B. Anthony ~Womens Rights
Introduction:
Since America was first founded men have always been considered dominate towards
women. As the years progressed womens rights have always been controversial. Debates rose
throughout the country on whether women should be granted permission to do the same things
as men when it truly was a right women should have gain since the beginning. Susan B.
Anthony was a women who led a fight in women's rights. She showed great power and grace
while fighting for what she believed in. Susan B. Anthony is a role model to all women who are
determined to make a change. It is said that women and men are already equal but women are
constantly being treated as the lesser gender.
Background:
In 1869 Anthony along with another woman, Elizabeth Stanton founded a National
womens Suffrage Association(Woman's Rights) Along with their newly founded associated they
created The Revolution, which was a weekly publication that advocated women's rights to people
in the area(Susan B. Anthony). Susan B. Anthony didnt stop there. She traveled and gave
speeches that united women together to fight for their right to vote. While Anthony went on
fighting the United states granted African American men, who were former slave and Native
Americans the right to vote. It was we;the people; not we the white male citizens, nor, the male
citizens, but we the whole people who formed the union(Anthony). These powerful words were
heard everywhere and motivated women and even men to fight harder.
Sadly in 1906 Susan B. Anthony passed away. Although women across the country were
devastated women did not stop their effort to get their right to vote. The speeches and constant
non violent protests continued. In 1920 the 19th Amendment was passed. This granted all adult
women the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony and her tireless efforts were cherished and to this
day are still respected.

Women today are still following in Susan B. Anthonys footsteps. Men today act
degrading towards women, limiting what they can do. In a work space men are taken more
seriously than women are. It is a proven statistic that to every dollar a man makes a women
makes seventy-eight cents(11 Facts).Even applying to jobs men always come up ahead of
women. Women are constantly pleading and fighting for equal treatment in their workspace as
well as in their public and private lives. Even in a political sense men dominate. Only seventeen
percent of congress is made up of women. It is safe to say men appear to be on top. A change
needs to be made in order to disintegrate male and female inequality.
For years women have always come second to men and to this day it continues. Women
like Susan B. Anthony fight for today's women's rights issues and some have yet to be
discovered. Once again, women should make a united front to change the way women are seen
as strong and independent. We as people lie in the modern day but refuse to face the fact women
equality is something worth fighting for.
