No federal mandate that requires gifted services in schools


FCSG (Fulton County Supporters of Gifted)
o parents and teachers
o helps provide resources and training on how to advocate for
meeting needs of gifted students
Challenge gifted students at home reading from a very early age,
educational resources on electronics, involved in the arts (extracurricular),
extend curriculum connections at home (enrichment), enforce rewards
with connections, give ANY exposure to what student is passionate about.
Challenges with FCS gifted?
o Not having enough TAG certified teachers
o Teachers not utilizing strategies
High School TAG:
o Advanced Placement classes
o Seminar model
o Interactive studies (students create/write own courses thats
monitored by TAG teacher)
o Internship orgram
High Potential:
o Students can enroll in TAG classes IF theres room and availability
o Students test at the end of the year to see if they meet requirements
to participate in TAG program.
Identifying Underrepresented subgroups:
o Different types of assessments given to students
o Implement strategies in class to support students and teachers
o Use different learning modalities when instructing
o Train teachers to collaborate with coworkers
o CISS training is KEY
Twice Exceptional students:
o Work with school psychologist to hear strengths and weaknesses
found in students evaluations
o Can you find any gifted scores in testing?
