places and thinking about society. Therefore, according to the article, reflective essay
influenced in particular relationships among autobiographical and observation writing
skills.

All of Dillards action verbs, the proposition and repetitions sentence patterns helped me
to visualize, as it were a film. Dillard constructs a dramatic action of chasing the children
by using different kinds action verbs and usages and also used repetition words to
describe the man chasing the children without stopping. More over, using different
adverbs and prepositions, she provided rising action of the mans anger. Finally,

combining all of these action verbs, adverbs and prepositions and repetitions reflects the
form of the dramatic arc and helped me to recall the similar childhood life of myself.

English Language can be a barrier for international student, written by David Gerhold,
mainly criticizes about the Test of English as a foreign language, TOEFL. In this article,
it states many of the professors and students opinions on TOEFL test. Moreover, it also
explains about why TOEFL is not enough for real English class. By suggesting some of
the possible ways to progress the English fluency for the international student helps my
paper for proposal.

In chapter of Writing to Change the World, Phipher says that not
being able to start writing is like not being able to dive into cold water,
for being afraid of what will happen after that. Whenever you are
planning to write, you might make an excuse to put it off, but just do it.
Later, you will become familiar with writing and enjoy it just like your
body gets used to the temperature of water after warming up. To take
a next step to become a change writer, there are many requirements
to fulfill. Being able to keep in touch with you emotions is the most
requirement skill for a change writer to have. Moreover, patience,

solidity, observational skill, and boldness are necessary too. What is


the cost to become a change writer? It is not money, but the supports
from writer friends and experiences throughout your lifetime.

In this articles mainly talked about the writers experiences of her life and reflections of
her life. From this article, I learned about how emotions can influence the writing. From
this chapter, I learned that the deeper I explore about my life, the more way I can discover
to connect myself to the great and universal human stories.

Above the cited reading, Phipher talks about what take a writer to become a change
writer with some guidelines. Change writers cannot disconnect with society in order to
observe what is happening around the world to make changes by their piece of writing.
Sometimes, they might need to observe the small details of the people around them to
make them aware of the differences among people by writing. For example, Marked
Women, written by Tannen, is a good observation essay to show how women are marked
and how men are unmarked. The other essays Dating and Hooking Up are also
essays written after observing deeply about social issues. To become a change writer, first
you need to be interested in observing, and then slowly improving your authentic voice,
write with intention and effort to change the world.

People have their set of own life theme, habits and ways of organizing, which also define
as a theory of why human are acting on different ways. It also guides about the
individuality and one kind point of view to the universe. Life assign people cause and all
of these become a voice, which reflects emotional, strength and flaws. All of these voices
come from generations to generations, different genders of relationships and background
experiences and also resonate with people sorrows, fears as well as joys. From those
different voices people express their thoughts in different medium.

In the introduction of Writing to Connect, Mary Piper talks about how
humans are mostly unaware of what are happening around the world
and how their knowledge is limited and their senses are connected by
the technology. With advancing technology, the quality having
experience, knowledge, and good judgments are declining. Piper
proposes that good writing enlarges the knowledge of the readers who
are with their own point of view about the world, and it connects
people to one another. The use of language is also important in change
writing. All kinds of writing can change the world. A lot of writing in the
past such as, Anne Frank and Upton Sinclair, has been able to make a
big change in the world

From this essay, I could imagine the reactions of Staples for being seen as threatening
and being treated like a threat just because of my race and gender would also surprise me.
It is about his experiences in the way he was treated for being an African-American man.
He wrote about peoples attitudes and behaviors towards him for being black man.

Brent Staples, an African American man, wrote about how he had been
mistaken for criminal because of his race. The first time he was
mistaken was in Hyde Park with a white, well dressed, 20 years old
woman. He saw her giving him worried glance and running away in
earnest after a few glimpses. He was seen as a mugger, a rapist, or
worse in her eyes and in peoples eyes who hammered down the door
locks when he crossed in front of a stopped car at a traffic light at dark,
shadowy intersections. He was familiar with that language of fear
every time he walked at night because of his race.

Above the article explain about the fundamental challenging for


international students, who coming U.S for studying abroad. In the
article, it mainly discuss about the obstacles for which the entire
foreign student must face during their studying aboard and give some
suggestions about those barriers. The thesis of my paper is challenging
for the international student while studying abroad, therefore, this
article really helps me by giving more relevant information.
