How are they funded and

distributed?
It can be very difficult for an aspiring
third world filmmaker to get funding
for their film. They can try to get
funding from the third world
independent film festival, which
celebrates establishing filmmakers
and helps introduce and distribute
their films to the audiences.

Compared to Hollywood
Hollywood films will have big budgets (millions of dollars) as well
as famous actors in lead roles in the film. Hollywood films will
have a lot of people working on the film at all the stages and will
have a publisher who would take care of marketing and
distribution. They would also be typically filmed in a studio and
with a greenscreen and CGI to improve the films look. Also third
world films differ from Hollywood films as third world tries to tell
the truth and poverty, unhappiness and other issues in the
country they are filmed in, they might even try a shock factor to
get people to understand the suffering taking place. Hollywood
films are made to be entertaining and generally don't care what
message they send out.
Third world cinema and Hollywood films do not share many
conventions but these are the ones that are typically found in
both; Crime and unhappiness.

Compared to British indie

films
Third world films and British indie films have much
more in common compared to Hollywood films. They
both have low budgets and they both try to tell
people about issues in their respective countries.
They will both be filmed in actual places and not a
studio, and will typically not have any famous actors
either. British indie films usually focus on drugs,
teenagers, pregnancy and domestic violence.
They both share similar conventions however, such
as; low budget, crime, suffering, unhappiness, real
world problems, no-one famous and blurred visuals.
