COMPARISON OF SPLITTING TENSILE STRENGTH USING BRICK AND

STONE AGGREGATE WITH DIFFERENT VOLUMETRIC MIX RATIO AND

FRACTURE SURFACE.

ABSTRACT
This study explore the relation of splitting tensile strength fspt, between different ratio
of volumetric concrete mix and difference in results and fracture type between
stone chips based and brick chips based concrete. The volumetric mix was done
following Cement: Fine aggregate: Course aggregate is, 1:2:4, 1:1.5:3, 1:1.25:2. The
cement type was same through the test and the water cement ratio was maintained
.5 in all mix. The variation was also due to fracture type and its difference between
stone based and brick based aggregate. It was found that the tensile strength of
concrete using brick aggregate over concrete using stone aggregate increases
following the mix ratio 1:1.25:2, 1:1.5:3, 1:2:4. The surface of split cylinder of brick
and stone has also a unique property. According to the result, a comparison of
tensile strength was developed with different volumetric mix.
