The Life of Bindusara Maurya
Bindusara Maurya was the emperor of the Maurya Empire. He was born in 320 BCE.
Due to his success he had expanded the empire much future. Bindusaras father was
Chandragupta Maurya, and was his first son. When Bindusara was only 22 years old he had to
take over a large empire. Bindusara had extended the empire to south India, where he had
brought sixteen states under the Maurya Empire. He had two sons, who everyone knew very
well, their names were, Susima and Ashoka. Bindusara extended his empire further as far as
south Mysore. (According to Wikipedia)
Bindusara Maurya was a man of wide interest and taste, since tradition had it that he
asked Antiochus I to send him some sweet wine, dried figs and a sophist. (According to
indiansaga). He believed in the religion of Ajivika. The way that Bindusara Maurya had
expanded the empire was by campaigning in the Deccan. Bindusara is known to conquer the
land between the two seas, which meant the Arabian Sea and The Bay of Bengal. Bindusara
reigns had lasted for twenty five years because he followed his father Chandragupta Mauryas
ways. Bindusara Maurya had succeeded his fathers dreams by carrying on his ways and
expanding the empire further and further. Even though Bindusara succeeded well, his father had
never even believed in him that he could ever be a great king and prove his own father wrong.
Sadly his father was there to see his sons success and to see what he thought was not correct,
and that his own blood had filled his dreams. Bindusara had died in 272 BCE aged 48.
