Assignment 1: Write the story of a pimple.

You have 30 minutes.


It can be 1st person, 2nd person, or 3rd person point of view
If its 1st person, you can have a traditional narrator, or the pimple can be the narrator.
If its 2nd person, you can talk to the pimple, you can talk to the person with the pimple, the
person with the pimple can speak directly to the audience, or the pimple can speak directly to the
audience.
If its 3rd person, it can be about the person with the pimple or the pimple itself.

Example: 3rd person point of view, about the pimple:


A bright light! I see it! she thought as she burst into the open. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!! yelled
Pimpleta, a small white dot just above the skin.
Coo! That was painful! she said as she breathed heavily. Her journey through the skin and
into the open was tough and took a lot of effort. As she looked around, she saw a giant nose, mouth, and
eye. This was perfect right in the middle of the face.
This is fucking great! Im gonna ruin this persons week! she said proudly.

When you think you are done with your story


Step 10: Proofread your story by reading it OUT LOUD to yourself (quietly so other people cant hear).
Step 11: Fix any of the small mistakes you found while reading it over, for example:

Leaving out commas


Leaving out periods
Not starting every sentence with a capital letter.
Not making everyones name have a capital letter
Having a question, but forgetting to end it with a question mark
Having someone speaking, but forgetting to start or end the quote with quotation marks
A spelling mistake
Repeating the same word accidentally
Leaving out a word in the middle of a sentence
Using words like thing and stuff that arent specific enough

Step 12: Re-write it more neatly than the first time, with all your mistakes fixed.
Step 13: Find someone else who is done to peer edit your story you should also peer edit their story.
Step 14: When you get your feedback from your editor, get a laptop and type up your story with any
changes youd like to make.
Step 15: Email your story to Feinberg and print a copy for your portfolio.
