INTRODUCTION
Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically mentioned, what is
the theoretical background or overarching theme):
What do successful school principals do in order to ensure increase students
academic achievement and graduation rate?

Purpose of the research:

Research was done on principals work, perceptions, and attitudes to determine if
it affects student learning and teachers behavior.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: A convenience sample of 310 principals from a large

metropolitan area in the southwest region of the US.
Procedures: A questionnaire was administrated by graduate students in
the EL program.
Data Collection Methods/Data Source: Principals in schools from the
southwest region of the US. Also interviews with the principals from this
region.
Data Analysis: Analysis of the interview data began with a process of data
reduction. The data then was coded into meaningful categories. Once the
categories were established, another researcher independently coded a

10% sample of responses to determine the consistency of the coding.

RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article):
The results from the article show that principals that view technology as for carrying out
communication and instruction. Also here is the percentage of the major functions of
technology: Communication-34.5%, Instruction-27.7%, Data Sharing & Management13.6%, Resource-14.5%, Administrative Tasks- 10%, and Student Learning-9.7%.
DISCUSSIONS
Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):
I believe that the use of technology for carrying out communication and instruction is
the main use and purpose of technology in schools. Also technology does have a big
impact on the students because they are able to reach resources faster and also
have a lot more resources.
REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your
school/work):
Now that I read this research paper I think that technology for students, when
utilized sufficiently, can provide tremendous steps to learning, learning how to
find information and what to do with it. I also think that technology is a great tool
when you know how to use it.
