Student Teacher Integration Plan

Nick Berens - Technology Education

Before Placement:
Cooperating teacher will:
o Notify teaching students, staff, and administration of student teacher beginning their experience.
o Meet with student teacher to discuss integration plan and the first week of school
Week 1
Student teacher will:
o Become familiar with classroom routines, including safety rules, attendance, course offerings, and general
school procedures.
o Introduce them self to the students and staff while beginning to learn their names.
o Observe entire daily teaching schedule.
o Observe classroom rules and safety rules.
Cooperating teacher will:
o Give a tour of the school and introduce staff, including school nurse, administrative assistants, and custodial
staff.
o Explain the layout of the tech ed classroom and shop. Will show student teacher the tools and equipment in
our shop.
o Demonstrate proper use of equipment in the tech ed shop, which may be new to the student teacher.
o Explain student information software.
o Discuss next weeks lessons plans.
o Discuss professionalism
o Discuss education in general and get to know the student teacher better.
Week 2
Student teacher will:
o Observe entire teaching schedule.
o Be responsible for classroom procedure; attendance, announcements, any forms to handout or collect.
o Be responsible for teaching the Middle School Technology Education Course.
o Assist in the classroom by helping students with work, both in classroom and in the shop.
o Review curriculum for courses that will be taught.
o Begin planning next weeks lessons plan.
Cooperating teacher will:
o Continue to demonstrate any new equipment to the new teacher.
o Discuss daily situations that come up in the classroom.
o Discuss the middle school tech. ed course and how this course is working.
o Discuss and create a plan of how soon the student teacher would like to add addition courses.

Week 3
Student teacher will:
o Observe entire teaching schedule.
o Be responsible for classroom procedure; attendance, announcements, any forms to handout or collect.
o Be responsible for teaching the Middle School Technology Education Course.
o Assist in the classroom by helping students with work, both classroom and in the shop.
o Review curriculum for courses that will be taught.
o Begin planning next weeks lessons plan.
Cooperating teacher will:
o Continue with introducing new equipment to the student teacher.
o Continue observing and giving feedback.
o Review course curriculum and start discussing any that will be new to the student teacher.
o Discuss adding a Metals I course to the student teachers responsibility.
Week 4-5
Student teacher will:
o Observe teaching schedule.
o Be responsible for classroom procedures.
o Be responsible for Middle School Tech ed course and Metals I course.
o Assist in the classroom by helping students with work, both classroom and in the shop.
o Continue planning next weeks lessons plans.
o Also plan for the additional responsibility of two more courses, (to be determined about current course
offerings).
Cooperating teacher will:
o Continue observing and giving feedback.
o Observe closely during the new Metals 1 course, to provide assistance if necessary.
o Review and reflect on the teaching of the two courses.
o Discuss techniques and things that have gone good and bad.
o Have student teacher observe at least one other teachers classes.
o Have the student teacher discuss the courses they observed with that teacher.
Week 6-7
Student teacher will:
o Observe teaching schedule
o Be responsible for classroom procedures.
o Continue teaching current four courses.
o Assist in the classroom by helping students with work, in both classroom and in the shop.
o Continue planning lessons plans.

o Plan for the addition of teaching the remainder of the teachers schedule.
Cooperating teacher will:
o Continue observing and giving feedback.
o Observe closely, to provide assistance if necessary.
o Review and reflect on the teaching of the different courses.
o Discuss techniques and things that have gone good and bad.
Week 8-15
Student teacher will:
o Teach the full schedule of the cooperating teacher.
o Be responsible for all teacher responsibilitys
o Start to develop and incorporate any new lessons as seen appropriate.
o Spend time observing other teachers in the building occasionally.
o Continue to work with colleagues in the Professional Learning Communities.
Cooperating teacher will:
o Continue observing and giving feedback.
o Be less involved in classroom activities but still be present to give assistance if necessary.
o Continue to discuss overall pedagogy and reflect with student teachers performance.
o Also ask student teacher what specifics they will like observed.
o Help student teacher arrange university supervisions, documentation of teaching, portfolio.
Week 16-18
Student teacher will:
o Continue teaching semester course to the end of the semester.
o Begin to transition year-long courses back the cooperating teacher.
o Meet with at least one other staff member to discuss their student teaching experience.
o Create a student survey, to use as a reflection of their experience
o Continue to update and modify their teaching portfolio.
Cooperating teacher will:
o Begin taking over year-long classes.
o Discuss with student teacher their student teaching experience.
o Assist student teacher in completing their final evaluations.
o Discuss possible interview questions and availability.
o Possible set up a mock interview.
