Understanding the Centripetal Force

Target Age : 13 -18

Scope: Understanding the following concepts
a) Centripetal Force
b) Effect of tension ( in case of a rope etc)
c) Effect of mass of objects on centripetal force ( In case of a stone attached to a
rope)
d) Velocity and acceleration of the moving body
e) Strength of materials vs tension.

Tool : For now we have decided to do it in Corona.

Story Boarding: The game will start with a story of a naughty boy/girl who wants
to play with a bucket filled with water. The bucket is attached with a string. The
boy/girl has to rotate the bucket such that the water will not fall out of the bucket.
While the as the boy/girl is playing the game the length of rope changes and he/she
is being notified the change in the string. In order to adjust to the changes the
boy/girl has to either change the force or the weight of the bucket. The boy/girl can
change the weight / force by clicking on the bucket or the person. On click the
boy/girl will be asked to enter the amount of increase in the force or weight.
Initially an animation will briefly introduce the player will the centripetal force and
the rules of the game.
