Technology in the classroom (Differentiating Instruction through Technology of the
Comprehensive Classroom Technology Plan)
Students are all different and so they each need to be met where they are. This is where
technology can be of so much value so to reach each student at their level and type of learning
skills. There is need to satisfy the different senses at different levels with appropriate level
websites according to the learning styles, and with the best outcomes.
Different websites are for this purpose where the content is the same just in a diversity of
level as mentioned by Kara-Soteriou (Kara-Soteriou, 2009). There are some special need
students that deserve attention as well and technology can assist with that too. During the school
day there are multiple ways in the modifications done: all teachers make such modifications in
small but significant ways throughout the school day (Edyburn, 2004).
Just as there are special needs for one side of the spectrum so too there those quite
gifted. They too can have an appropriate curriculum so they can stop being bored. This is a
special program: acceleration and grouping as basic policy provisions in gifted programs
(VanTassel-Baska , 2005). This will be a relief for the parents and the student as everyone is
allowed to develop their greatest potential. Students are able to learn the same concepts just in
the level and depth that they are currently with the hope to improve to the next level. It is like
learning English although there are beginners and there are advance students.

There is great wisdom in integrating technologies into the curriculum so to achieve the
above mentioned. Integration is the key word in what Gunter & Gunter mention (Gunter, 2015).
There are teachable moments that a website will come in to aid with images and more
information according to a specific topic. The Internet is waiting to assist in these moments so to
enhance the lesson allowing then the students to indulge in what they want to learn about the
topic. This is where the differentiation can take place as the teacher divides in groups for their
hands on opportunity.
As each student is unique then the lesson can be adapted so to reach where they are and
improve greater knowledge and information with websites and activities. Technology is an
assistant to the teacher who knows the student and can then direct to the appropriate thing to do
to enhance their learning abilities according to their learning styles. This is where the teacher is
the guide and it is the student that benefits from both the teacher and all he can offer including
technology.
