Steps and procedures in making pots.

1. Choose the template you want to give the pot its design.
2. According to the template chosen you then take either a half of a 208 liter barrel or a 5
gallon bucket. *NB. Both the bottoms have been cut out.
3. Place the barrel or the bucket onto a potters wheel.
4. Place the clay into the barrel using a spade until its full.
5. Then using a mortar pencil level the clay in the barrel or bucket.
6. Repeat step three (3) and four (4) if the required height of the template is not met.
7. After the required height is met, you then take a hammer and knock around the bucket so
that you would be able to remove. The barrel on the other hand is simpler as you only
need to remove the screws placed in it to remove it.
8. Level the potters wheel with the template.
9. Take the trowel cut around the clay till its fits with the template.
10. Place white sand around the pot till its fully covered the clay pot.
11. Fix the template till its level with the pot.
12. Spin the potters wheel and remove the top of the pot if its too high. *NB. If the pot is
level with the template dont remove the top.
13. Mix the cement, sand and water in the ratio of 3:10:15.
14. Place the mortar around the pot till is fully covered.
15. Spin the potters wheel and place cement around it to cover up the holes.
16. Remove the mortar from the edge of the template to avoid the buildup of mortar on the
template.
17. Keep repeating steps 14-16 till the pot takes its takes the proper shape of the template.
