Referee Statement

Applicants for employment as a teacher in a Queensland state school are required to include two (2) Referee
Statements in their Professional Folio. This statement must be completed by professional referees who are
able to comment on the applicants demonstration of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Karen followed the Australian Curriculum and C2C planning documents to plan
learning experiences that developed language, literacy and numeracy skills
and concepts. She demonstrated the ability to differentiate her curriculum and
pedagogy to be responsive to the needs of all learners. Karen regularly
evaluated her lessons and reflected on how she could improve elements of her
planning, behaviour management, pedagogy or assessment techniques.

Karen designed and implemented a range of engaging and


flexible learning experiences in all key learning areas, which
involved all students in meaningful activities. She created and
maintained a safe and supportive learning environment which
focused on developing a positive atmosphere. Karen assessed
students using various assessment tools and constructively
reported back to students as their teacher. Her planning and
assessment reflected a sound knowledge of the diversity of
learners in the class and how to accurately cater for them.

Karen participated and contributed effectively in our school


moderation with other year levels. She worked to establish and
maintain positive and productive relationships with families and
communicated with all parents openly and honestly. Karen worked
