Christ never promised that adversity would be removed from our lives.

He just
promised that provision would be made for you to be able to walk a day at a time.
His grace will be sufficient for you.
Its time to pour your heart out to God. Its time to tell him all about the footsteps
youre hearing, the opposition youre feeling, the pressure youre facing, the
burden youre carrying, the fear thats tearing you apart.
The refuge of God is available to meany time, anywhere. If I hide under his
wings for a time, I can eventually crawl out of there and face what it is God wants
me to face, lead what it is God wants me to lead, and speak the words he wants me
to speak. But I couldnt do it without the refugenor can you.
Scripture advises you to orient your schedule, relationships, activities your
whole life around refuge times. Jesus himself, the Son of God, would take some
safe friends to a safe place, and theyd huddle together and seek refuge under
Gods wings of love.
The night of his arrest, Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane with a few friends,
safe under the wings of God. When the authorities came, he said, Take me. Im
ready.
The only way youre going to live above the line of despair is to orient your life
around safe people and safe places in the refuge that God provides. Its available
anytime, anywhere. Tuck under his wings.
The Bible teaches us that the ultimate city of refuge is heaven. Those of us who
have trusted Christ and have been adopted into his family will enter that final city
of refuge the moment after we draw our final breath. The Bible says its absolutely
safe there. You will never hear menacing footsteps. There will be no one breathing
down your neck. There will be no more fear, no more oppression, no more
loneliness, no more physical limitation.
That final city of refuge is open and available to any who would choose to access it
through Christ. This is at the heart of who God is: providing refuge for us in this
world and the next.
