Effective instruction makes the most difference in student academic performance.
There is no excuse for poor quality instruction.
With our help, at risk students will achieve at the same rate as non-at risk students.

excellence.

SkillsUSA
School Co-curricular Organization All My students are encouraged to join. It is a youth
organization designed to develop the students leadership abilities, in addition to his/her particular
skill or trade, which will aid them in becoming a successful employee. More information is on our
website
Course Description:
This class emphasizes the knowledge and skills associated with basic computer literacy. This course

teaches basic computer skills and the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Access.
We will use simulated labs learning to give students hands-on experience, provide instant feedback
and remediation, and challenge students to become proficient. Students will develop computer
literacy skills to adapt to emerging technologies used in the global marketplace. Students will also
enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the
information technology environment.

We added Office Pro extension to prepare students to pass the Office Pro Certification exam. The
course is meant to encourage students to pursue other certifications, such as A+, PC Pro, Network
Pro, and Network+, get a high school diploma, go on to college, and then get higher level
certifications as college graduates, such as the Microsoft Systems Engineer certification.

We will be utilizing Weebly website, as our online classroom. All lessons will online and
assignments will be completed and posted via testout.com and Google.doc.
All students and their parents will have access to DISD Parents portal to check on grades.
Approved Game to use after finishing class work and assignment http://www.number2.com/
We Follow TEAs Scope and Sequence guidelines for this course.
ASSIGNMENTS, PROJECTS AND DEADLINES:
All projects and assignments must be completed by yourself and in class. Work must be saved in
your network account. Do not save to the hard drive of the computer.
MAKE-UP WORK
Excused (Parent Excused, Excused, Medical, Field Trips) and Verified Absences
All missed work may be made up at full credit if completed immediately after returning to
class.
It is the students responsibility to initiate contact with the teacher to get make up work in
writing.
Work must be made up in a timely fashion, generally within the same number of days as
the absence (e.g. absent 2 days, work made up in 2 days).
Participation points may be lost due to absence. Students may possibly make up lost points
by working in the classroom/lab outside of class time or through alternate assignments
determined by the instructor.
Late Work:
Being late with assignments is, unfortunately, a common occurrence for some students. In an
effort to promote excellence and professionalism in all students, late work will be accepted
four class days late with the highest grade being 50. Work must be completed to receive the
grade. Any work turned in more than four days late will receive a grade of zero.
Modifications:
Course modification will be provided for students whose Individual Education Plan (IEP)
requires modifications or accommodations. Parents/Counselors have the responsibility to
make sure the teacher is aware of this need.

These rules will be strictly enforced and monitored. By following these rules, you will help keep
