My Goal

Attendance

My goal as a 10th grade English Language Arts (ELA)

teacher is to challenge students to become strategic
readers, effective writers, engaging speakers, and critical
thinkers.

It is important to attend class and participate in class

discussions and activities. Please make sure you follow the
district attendance policy found in your CODE OF
CONDUCT book.

My Rule

Tardy Policy

Dont do anything that will stop Ms. Tyler from teaching or

you and your classmates from learning.

Ridge Community High School does not follow a bell

system. You must be in class be the beginning of class
time. In order to do this, you must pay attention to the
time. My door will be locked at that time. If any part of
your body is not in the class when the bell stops ringing,
your entire body must report to the school officials in
CHOICE.

What will students be expected to do?

Students read and write extensively - both in class and at
home- to intensify their ability to analyze, critique, and
create literary fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry. 10th
grade English provides a solid foundation to achieve the
academic success that is vital to a fruitful, positive, and
productive adult life.

Required Supplies & materials needed

1 inch 3 ring binder

2 pocket folder each with 3 ring binder holes
1 Set of Colored Pencils
Various colored highlighters (any 4 colors)
Pencils and writing paper

Technology
In this class, students will make broad use of technology
including but not limited to the internet and word
processing software (Microsoft Word). In addition,
students will be required to join online websites that will
enhance their learning experience. To be successful in
this class, a student should obtain access to the internet
and word processing software both at home and at school.

Homework & classroom assignments

HOMEWORK IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS.
Students are expected to turn in assignments per
classroom policy. Please do not e-mail assignment (unless
I ask you too), put them on my desk, give them to other
teachers, put them in my box in the office or give them to
another student to give to me. Lost assignments will need
to be re-completed.

Assignment/MakeUp Policy
For every absence, the student can check for makeup work
by accessing the class website before or during or after
their absence. If you dont have access to the website at
home, please make time and go to the library here at
school.
The student has the number of days absent plus 2 to
submit make-up work for credit. I will not be responsible
for initiating the conversation about makeup work. For
unexcused absences, students are only allowed to make
up the first three (3) unexcused absences per 9 weeks.
