Students are expected show respect to all people and property within the library.
Students will speak in a manner that is appropriate in the library. (quiet, calm, respectful)
Students will not eat or drink in the library. (No food, gum or drinks of any kind!)
Students will help to keep the library organized and neat. (Use shelf markers, pick up
after yourself, push in chairs, put books and magazines in proper locations, etc)

Teacher/Staff Expectations
1. Teachers will review library policies and expectations with their students before
bringing the class to the library.
2. Teachers will actively monitor their students while visiting the library.
3. Teachers will help to enforce library policies with their students and will take corrective
action when necessary.
4. Teachers will stay with their students at all times when their class is visiting the library.
5. All staff will inform the teacher librarian when they are using/borrowing library
materials.
Scheduling Class Time
1. Teachers are allowed to schedule time in the library on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. Teachers will only use reserved time for standards-based lessons with clear objectives,
instructions, and assessment.
3. Substitute teachers will not be permitted to bring classes to the library, unless
previously discussed with and approved by teacher librarian.
Homeroom Policy
Homeroom is a valuable time for students to check out and return books. Due to the fact
that homeroom is only 23-30 minutes long, it is necessary to adhere to the following rules:
The library will not be accepting class visits during homeroom.
Please send no more than TWO students to the library during homeroom.
Please send students with hall pass and student ID card or agenda library card.
Students should be coming to the library during homeroom to check out and return
books only.
Once a student checks a book out, they will be sent back to class.
Sending Students
1. Teachers may send students to the library at any time during normal operating hours.
2. No more than two students per class will be allowed to visit the library at one time,
unless previously discussed with and approved by teacher librarian.
3. All students entering the library must have a hall pass with a legible teacher signature.
4. Students dismissed from special activities (i.e. field trips, assemblies etc.) may not stay
in the library without prior approval from the teacher librarian.
Computer and Printer/Copier Use
1. Library computers will only be used for school/class-related activities (AR quizzes,
research, word processing, etc.). No gaming or videos will be allowed unless approved
by library/school personnel.
2. A printer/copier is available to students for schoolwork only. Students must get the
approval from the teacher librarian to print or make copies.
