7th Grade Social Studies focuses on geography, the history of the world and the cultures that exist
within it. However, history is not really about the old days, or long, long, ago. History is in
the making! We are living in historic times! Social Studies can become fascinating once we
realize were connected to all aspects of it.
My approach to Social Studies and history is simple. Its life then and now! We must
understand our past: from where we have come, in order to appreciate what we have today.
Understanding world history is also essential to comprehending current events and contemporary
issues. With our acquired knowledge we can then chart the future we want for ourselves, and our
posterity!
This course is heavily integrated with Language Arts to enhance student understanding of the
material while improving their ability to communicate their newly acquired knowledge. Social
Studies will be integrated with other subjects whenever possible.
