In addition to the grading scale, there is a specific breakdown of

HOW you will be graded:

50% Summative Assessment (example: Tests, projects,

papers, etc)
20 % Quizzes
20% class work/homework
10% Attendance/participation

**Please note that 10% of your grade is based solely on

attendance and participation. BE HERE and make sure you
GET INVOLVED in the classroom activities.

Bathroom Passes: As a general rule, because you have 4

minutes of passing time, please use the bathroom then.
However, if you do need to use the bathroom during class time,
dont make it a habit of going at the same time every day. In
addition to this, please do not ask to use the bathroom while I
am teaching. You can wait until you are doing independent or
group work. It is not really beneficial to use the bathroom while I
am teaching because it interrupts me and it interrupts your
classmates learning.

Absent Work:

Its a proven fact that when you are present at school,

your success rate is higher than when you miss. That
being said, BE HERE ALL THE TIME. Yes, things happen
that prevent you from coming to school, but do you best
and understand the importance of being here. IF and
WHEN you are absent, there are certain procedures in
place for you to keep yourself on track.

If you are absent 1 day, you will have 1 day to make up any
classwork or homework.

--For example, if you are absent on a Friday, your

assignments will be due Tuesday.

If you are absent 2 days, then you will have 2 days to make up
work. If you are absent more than 3 days in a row, then we
need to conference before school, after school, or

through email. If you are absent the day a project or paper is

assigned, you will have one day more to complete it.

When returning from an absence, you will need to do the

following:

If there are handouts, worksheets, or notes from that

day, they will be located in the Absent Work BOX for the
class.
When you bring your homework/class work back to
school, you will need to label the top Absent on _____
and place it in the IN TRAY.

DO NOT come to me and ask what you missed, or ask for the
work. It is your responsibility to get that information yourself
from the above procedures. If you have further questions, please
feel free to conference with me before or after class or school. Do
not interrupt instructional time.

Late Work Policy

I accept late work, however, this comes at a cost.

Homework assignments: 25% off EACH day an assignment

is late. After two days, you may not turn in the
assignment for a grade. It will go into the Gradebook as a
ZERO and an incomplete.

Projects, Papers: 50% off each day that a paper/project is

late.

IMPORTANT: If you are absent the day a project/paper is

due, you are STILL required to get that project/paper
turned into me via email or brought up to school by a
parent/guardian/sibling/classmate. The ONLY exception
to this rule is if you were absent when the project/paper
was assigned. If you have any further clarification on this
rule, please let me know.

A word on plagiarism: Dont do it. It is grounds for failure

on an assignment, test, project, etc. In college, it is

grounds for failure of the class and sometimes even

grounds for expulsion from the school. DO YOUR OWN
WORK.

**CLASS PORTFOLIO**

A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating

individual growth and accomplishment during the
course of the year will serve as a portion of the
final exam in June. This will be discussed more in
depth during class as well as a letter sent home
for you and your parents/guardians to look over.

Basic Classroom Expectations

My classroom expectations are the same as the new and

improved ABT exceptions.

-Be ResponsibleCome to class on time and prepared.

-Be RespectfulTreat your teacher, classmates, and

yourself with respect.

-Be SafeStay away from unnecessary drama, and

concentrate on your education.

Food/Drinks

I do not mind if you eat/drink in class, but if it becomes

an issue, this privilege will be taken away. This might
include:

-other students bringing you food/drink to class

while class is in session

-leaving trash/food on the desks/floors

-Spilling any sugary drinks

RememberONE student can ruin this privilege. Look

after each other

Proof of Receipt and Understanding

I have read all parts of Mr. Linares syllabus. I understand all of

the information that is contained within the syllabus. I know that all
rules and regulations stated in the Academy for Business &
Technology School Handbook are also practiced in this class. I will
abide by all rules and agree to accept the consequences should I
choose not to do so.
