Breakfast is free. Students must arrive no earlier than
7:20 and no later than 7:30 to be served. (Students
arriving on the bus will be served when they arrive.)
Lunch is free. Please go over the lunch menu with your
child. If your child will not be eating the lunch provided by
the school, please make sure that you send in a lunch
with them. If you know that your child does not like the
items that will be served on a given day, please send
them with a lunch that you know they will eat so that they
receive the nutrition they need and the food in the
cafeteria will not be wasted.
Special classes Please check the class website to find
out when your child will be having gym (Your child must
wear the proper St. Martin of Tours gym uniform on this
day.), technology, art, music, and library.

Breakfast, Lunch, & Specials

Please make sure your child, myself, and the

school office knows how your child is to go home
each day.
If there is a change in your childs transportation,
the teacher and the office must be notified by
note or phone call otherwise your child will be
sent home by the regular dismissal line/bus. (Do
not send word with your child, a note or phone
call is required!)
At dismissal time, if your child is walking home or you
are picking them up by car, you must meet them at the
corner of either:
o Sanger St. and Loretto
o Cheltenham and Loretto
o Roosevelt Blvd (at the McDonalds)
If you are not there to meet your child, they will be
brought back to the office. You will need to pick them up
there.
For the safety of your child, do not pull them out
of line to cross in the middle of the street. Please
meet them at the corner and cross with the
crossing guard in the crosswalk.

Positive Behavior Management

o We work hard here at St. Martin of Tours and in the fifth grade to create a positive values
based environment in which your child has the best opportunity to make good choices
and grow to become the best that they can be.
o The children receive consequences, positive and corrective for their choices.
Marty tickets are given for students caught making good choices. With the Marty
tickets students can earn prizes.
Log marks are given for students who consistently make poor choices or fail to do
homework/classwork. If students fail to turn their behavior around, their choices
may result in a minor or major school referral.
o The class as a whole has the opportunity to win class prizes for overall good behavior.
School work expectations
o All work is expected to be done neatly and carefully otherwise students will be required to
do it over.
o If classwork is not completed because of student behavior or lack of effort, it may be
assigned as additional homework.
If this becomes a pattern, we may have to meet to discuss how we can help your
child work to their potential.
Projects
o At least one major project will be assigned for each subject each trimester.
o Students will have from 4 days to two weeks depending on the project. (All projects will
include at least one full weekend.)
o Projects help those students who do not do well on tests to demonstrate their
understanding of the material, they also provide students with the opportunity to develop
organizational and time management skills.
Homework
o Students will have homework every night, either written homework or study.
o Weekend homework will be assigned very rarely.
o Students should spend about 1 hour on homework if they are working in a focused,
conscientious manner. (If homework is regularly taking longer than this please let me
know so that we can work together to find a solution.)
o Please send me a note if homework is unable to be done because your child does not
understand or there is a family emergency. (Sports, dance, or other extracurricular
activities are not excuses for homework not being done.)
o If homework is not neat or carefully done, it will be returned to be done over. Please
check your childs homework for completeness and neatness. Help your child to take
pride in their work.
