Understanding How to
Manually Work Your Camera
for Beginners

Introduction
In this course, learners focus on developing their
skills and understanding of a professional cameras
manual functions to create photographic images in
diverse settings in photography. Learners identify and
analyze different models of cameras and their
functions in order to learn how to set the camera
correctly for different lighting and photography scene.
In addition, learners will develop a portfolio of work
that they will create throughout the course using the
skills and knowledge gained.

Delivery and Length of


Training
This course will be in person with access to web based training
materials.
Training will be a total of hours divided up into 5 days.
Day 1-5 Hours Check out equipment
Day 2-4 Hours
Day 3-4 Hours
Day 4-4 Hours
Day 5-5 Hours-Final exam, return equipment

Goals
1. Student will identify and analyze different models
of cameras and their manual functions.

2. Student will be able to create professional pictures


in different photographic settings.

3. Students will design a portfolio of their work.

Goal #1
Goal:
Student will identify and analyze different models
of cameras and their manual functions.
Objective:
The photography student should be able to identify
all manual buttons on a professional camera. This
should be accomplished without error. Using the
taxonomy chart found in Week 4 is there a better
verb to use for this, like identify.

Goal #2
Goal:
Student will be able to create professional pictures in different
photographic settings.
Objectives:
The student should be able to predict what type of manual
settings they should be on depending on the photographic
scene given examples of real life scenarios. This should be
completed by participating in class discussions.
The photography student will be able to produce professional
quality pictures, given real life scenes and photo props. This
should be completed on three different photographic scenes
and continued until completed without error.

Goal #3
Goal:
Students will design a portfolio of their work.

Objective:
The photography student will be able to construct a
portfolio of their work throughout the course given a
camera, photographic scenes. This should be completed
by the end of the course.
The photography student will be able to evaluate their
photographic work given access to examples of work
throughout the course. This should be completed by the
end of the course.
