Classroom Guidelines and Expectations

Classroom Procedures/Policies:
You will be expected to:
1. Arrive on time. Attendance is taken at the bell. Chronic tardiness will result in a break
detention.
2. Sit down. Once the bell has rung, all students should be seated.
3. Get out materials. This includes a pen/pencil, notebook, a charged IPad, and any
assignment due that day, and any materials you know we will use that day.
4. Participate. Be actively engaged in all parts of the lesson. This will be part of your
grade.
5. Advocate for yourself if you have questions, dont understand something, or need help.
6. Be respectful and tolerant. There will be a lot of discussion, and everyones opinion is
valuable, even if you dont happen to agree with it.
7. Ask for makeup work upon returning to school, and complete it within a week. This
time frame includes scheduling time to make up assessments after school.
8. Email me, but to get a response be sure to include:
-subject line, greeting, proper tone, proper grammar and spelling, a
signature
Please dont:
1. Ask to go to the bathroom/get a drink during the active part of class. Those trips
should be kept to the beginning and end of class unless it is an emergency, at which point
you will be given a pass to the nurse.
2. Pack up before you are told you can do so.
3. Line up at the door to wait for the bell.
4. Behave inappropriately. Please remember that by this grade level, inappropriate
behavior should be at a minimum. Students and teachers work together to create
classroom tone and environment. See the handbook for possible consequences.
5. Plagiarize: Blatant and purposeful plagiarism will result in a 0 with no opportunity to
regain points. At the teachers discretion, inadvertent plagiarism will result in a 64.
Grading:
Work will be weighted as follows:
Major Assessments/Projects: 35% (Late: 10 pts off a day)
Classwork/Homework: 25% (Not accepted late unless absent)
Participation: 20% (Rubric received monthly)
