The language contains ‘large number of technical terms “hich are not casily intelligible to the Student and scholar of Buddhist religious thought. ‘The need for a dictionary of Buddhist technical terms was felt as early as the time of Nagarjuna who compiled fa list of technical terms and arranged it in different sections. His Kos‘a solved some of the greatest difficulties experienced by the students of Buddhist studies to understand Buddhist literature. ‘The work of Nagarjuna was made a basis for his research by the Buddhist scholar Kenjiu Kasawara who worked at Oxford under the guidance of Prof. F. Max Miller. The work prepared so metaculously by Kenjiu could not be published in his life- time. It was edited, later on, by Prof. Max Milller out of his love for that young scholar and for the benefit of Buddhist world. ‘The work contains exhaustive critical notes and translation with detailed references, titles of sections alphabetically arranged and Index ‘of words occurring in the text. The annotations are of great value, ‘They are derived from ancient ‘Tibetan, Chinese and Pali sources.
