Im from San Jose but grew up in Milpitas


(Pomeroy and MHS).
I went to SJSU for undergrad and teaching
credential.
I have worked in grades K-12 as a tutor,
substitute, and assistant teacher.
I have been married for over a year now.
I have two dogs, Owen and Rolo.

Communication

The best way to communicate with me is

Send an email. I check my email daily.


The best time to reach me by phone is Monday
through Friday 2:30P.M. to 3:30P.M. Any time
before or after that, please leave a message.
Available after school via appointment.
Send a note to school with your child.

child. An open line of communication is important
for your childs success.

and discussion.
Raise hand to speak, leave seat.
Use hand signals to use restroom and
drink water.
Make good choices Think before doing.
Is it good or bad?

Gold Tags
Students will earn Gold Tags for good behavior, great
choices, a positive attitude, kinds words, participation,
etc. to be used towards Fun Friday centers every week.
The student with the most gold tags chooses their
center first, followed by the next student , and so on.
Students learn very quickly that earning gold tags has
its rewards. Students are motivated to earn as many
as they can. It becomes less about Fun Friday and
more about becoming the best citizen that they can
be. Students strive to earn more than they did the
previous week.

Common
Core

This year the Commone Core State Standards (CCSS)


have officially been adopted by the state.
Some shifts with the CCSS:
Critical Thinking: Analyze, justify, evaluate, and
explain their thinking, especially in writing. This gives
a deeper understanding.
Collaborate and discuss with peers.
50% Fiction and 50% Nonfiction. Greater emphasis
on informational text.
Emphasis on proof of evidence.

Chromebooks inside the classroom
and in the Learning Lab on a daily
basis.
Please make sure your child has
their earbuds/headphones with them
at all times to avoid missing time on
the Chromebooks.

Homework

Homework will start on August 31st.


Homework packets will be given out
every two weeks on a Monday
(Tuesday if no school on Monday).
Homework will be due on the Friday at
the end of week two. Homework is to
be done every night (Monday-Friday).
The purpose of homework is to
practice concepts they have learned in
class.

Checking Homework
As your child completes the homework every
night, please check for accuracy.
Circle any problems that were not clear to
you.
Homework will be checked for completion and
spot checked for accuracy.
Students will receive a stamp or sticker on
their completed homework.

Reading Is Cool Program


Our class has registered with the San Jose
Sharks to participate in its reading incentive
program, Reading is Cool!
Record the book titles and the number of
pages that were read.
Each month, Sharkie, the San Jose Sharks
mascot, will visit each of the top 10
classrooms in Silicon Valley.
He and his escort will bring a bag filled with
wonderful books for our classroom to keep!
Make sure to log all the pages your child reads!

Conferences

Goal Setting Conferences


Goal Setting Conferences will take place
on Thursday, September 24th. Students
will meet with me to set a goal based on
their needs. Some parents will be asked
to attend these meetings.
**Please be aware they will take place
during the school day.

Fall Conferences
Fall Conferences will begin November 12th
to 18th. A conference sign-up form email
will be sent to you two-three weeks
prior to conferences.
