What are the Big Ideas
The Big Idea is a new style to get a cild fantasy, creativity, self-identity, and put
them into a deeper level of thinking, by expressing them self with art. It is all about art
making and integrate knowledge, personal connection, and problem solving. It goes
through history and across different cultures cultures to find the identity in relationships,
story, and celebration (Franco,Ward,Unrath,2015). The idea is to use a constructive
teaching style. Because of that, kids can understand how art is created and not only
from memorization, recall, or routinized application (Walker,2001). It is a creative selfexpression and integrated personality into art making at the same time.
I would like to use the Big idea because student could be very creative in their
work. It start out to look what they already know and how they can express them self in
art making (Franco,Ward,Unrath,2015). It maybe a big challenging because they have
to be open for the idea to see the world or object how it is not only how they remember
it. For the student it is a way to express things with art because sometimes it cannot be
expressed with words because it could be challenge. So we have to guide them true
the own experience they already have developed. However classroom time is limited we
as a teacher has to engage students with a single big idea and several art making
projects thats vary in subject matter (Walker,2001).
