STEM - The HOW and WHYs of Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics
Science, Mathematics, and Technology are different from
Engineering because of their job descriptions. Scientists dwell in
understanding the fundamentals of a problem and trying to understand
how it happens. Mathematicians take applied formulas and equations
in order to simulate situations or calculate real world problems.
Technology is the result of scientists work in order to assist in industry
or other fields. Meanwhile, engineers usually create products or final
results that they then apply to the real world in order to make it more
efficient or a better place.
Science, Mathematics, and Technology are very different fields
that all differ from engineering. For instance, Scientists and
Mathematicians usually focus on the fundamentals of an experiment or
issue, often creating a small product that has no industrial use for
society. On the other hand, engineers take what the scientists have
discovered or come up with, and they attempt to apply that idea,
invention, or product to the real world. A scientist or mathematician

might discover something, while an engineer takes their idea and looks
for ways to turn that into something that is practical.
