DACHS Medical Club Recap

Mission of the Club:

Our club's mission is to provide learning opportunities via fellowship, support, and academic
guidance for students interested in pursuing careers in: medicine, nursing, dentistry, health
sciences, health administration, etc. The club is seeking to provide its members contacts (with
medical and university personnel) to advance and nourish their medical passion with hands on
activities, internships/observerships, and social events. In addition to providing prospective
medical students with connections to the field, to grasp a stronger knowledge the club plans to
dedicate each month of the academic year to a charity to gather awareness via education,
fundraising, med talks, etc, to nurture a humanitarian climate in DACHS while providing further
education towards its medical prospects.
Why a Medical club
To offer Medical guidance and opportunities for students in a friendly atmosphere which in
turn eases future college tension.

In School Benefits for being in the Medical Club

After-school activities help youth develop social skills, improve academic performance, and
help them build strong supportive relationships with adults other than their parents. Young
children benefit especially from the social skills development and improved academic skills.
This leads to improved conflict management and better school attendance. Overall, the DACHS
Medical Club provides students with countless benefits, opportunities, as well as a glimpse into
the breathtaking medical field. With the med talk presentations, and resume practice for
volunteering and observerships opportunities students will be able to raise their confidence
level in public speaking, and improve their writing abilities. Furthermore, the DACHS Medical
Club will nurture necessary components to a successful future, creating bonds through the
mutual love and interest in medicine, promoting unity and encouraging friendships, and above
all promoting a nurturing humanitarian mindset. This will create opportunities for our students
to submerge themselves in the medical field as well as open up doors for opportunities in the
future. In summation, the Medical Club will benefit student in a plethora of ways and help
cultivate a new generation of medical professional minds.

Month of September will consist of:

1. After School fundraising with unicef boxes for kids with cancer
2. Paper pin up campaign
paper pin up is a fundraising effort that for every dollar raised a ribbon will be hung in
the donor's name in the cafeteria
3. Bake Sale September 17 after school in the Cafeteria
4. Saint Jude Walk/ Run Saturday September 26
How to Register
1. Go to the following site stjude.org/walkrun
2. Click on register
3. Find Florida and choose Miami (26)
4. Click on register again
5. Select Join a Team, click next
6. Look for New Participant and click on new account
7. For Team name write DACHS Medical Club (ignore National Team)
8. Click Search for a team
9. Click on Join
10. Pick your option (walk, run, or only fundraise). Click Next Step
11. Enter contact information for registration
12. Agree to the term and conditions. Click on Next Step
13. Select complete registration
