SECTION A: COMPULSORY
QUESTION 1: (40 MARKS)
(a) Leaders must have the ability to influence people in order to get their
voluntary participation in the achievement of organisational goals. Their ability
to influence their followers will be gained from different sources within the
organisation. Explain this statement with reference to the different sources of
power that a leader may have.

(b) Discuss the growing importance of using teams in an organisation in order to


enhance performance.

Explain the importance of situational factors in determining leadership behaviours
by using the Fiedlers model.

Change has become a prominent feature in todays business organisations. In
this context, explain the role of leaders while implementing change in the
organisation.

Explain the importance of leadership in enhancing performance in a team.

QUESTION 5: (30 MARKS)


One of the main characteristics of a team is that there is interdependency among
the team members and hence, in order to achieve the common objective, team
members perform different roles. Using the work of Belbin, explain the different
roles that team members will perform in a typical team.
