Students have been looking at Australian animals and history. This lesson has been designed to introduce Aboriginal art and the use of them in their cultures.
This lesson grows on students ability to complete comprehension.
Students background knowledge: What is your starting point what do the

students already know, what have they done before, how does this lesson connect to
or build on their existing knowledge?
Students have been greatly looking into Australian native animals and slight Australian
History. Students understand that Australia is the native land of Aboriginals and types
of arts of this culture, This lesson will broaden students knowledge of Aboriginal art its
uses, colours and purpose.
In this lesson I will greatly be focusing on body language to ensure students gain a
sense that I also am engaged and excited by the lesson.
As I will be two separate activities going on in this lesson, I will ensure that I make
effort to be available for help from both groups.
Learning environment and resources: Where will this lesson take place? e.g. indoors or
outdoors. What resources will you need to have prepared?
Students will learn the uses of art in the Aboriginal communities and
brief meaning of these art works. Students will also gain knowledge of
the use of colours of these art works and why they come from earthly
colours.
This lesson will be taking place inside in which they will begin on the floor and then
more to their desks to complete worksheet
Resources required include:
- Whiteboard and markers
- Interactive whiteboard
- Laptops
- Worksheet (appendix 1)
Assessment strategies: How will you identify what the students have learnt and how will you record this?
Students will be assessed on their ability to read texts and respond to questions (comprehension) the work sheet will be an indication and their ability to fulfil the
task. Students will also be assessed on their ability to recognize art work of the Aboriginal community which observational notes will take place.

-teacher to divide class up, students who belong in
yellow, lime blue or red reading groups are to use
compute and log on and go on reading eggs
-teacher to explain to group 2 which consists of
students who belong in green, pink orange and purple
are to complete work sheet.
-teacher to go through work sheet to explain to
students what is expected of them.
-teacher to explain to group 2 that once they have
finished their work they are to stick it in their literacy
books and draw a picture showing aboriginal art
techniques
-teacher to roam room and assist students who need
help.
