A Love Letter

Changing the world one classroom, one teacher, one heart at a time
This is one of the most practical and flexible programs you will find.
Consider these three key areas:
Accessibility--Teachers will access the materials from home, school, or
mobile device. Anytime and anywhere that email can be checked, these
newsletters will be accessible.
Application--The materials in this program are either content I have used
with real students in real classrooms or materials I hope to try in the
future.
Accountability--There is a large reflective component to Brave Teachers.
So accountability can be built write into the program by simply using the
journal or discussion questions that are included each week. Ive also
provided other tips and hints for feeling confident that teachers are
exploring what is offered.

Accountability
Today there exists an entire culture of doubting teachers capacity to
do their jobs or be trusted. This is mentally and emotionally draining
to your best educators, even if they dont recognize it. Dont feed this
by demanding an unrealistic level of accountability. Remember. . .
Here is your most important guiding question:
Are we keeping this simple enough to make it successful?
Present accountability as evidence to earn them credit. {Runners
finishing the marathon is the evidence that they trained for months.
Teachers collecting or reflecting or sharing is the evidence that they
spent months learning and teaching. The evidence should not be
harder than the action that produces the evidence.}
You will choose the accountability method that will be best for your
team. Here are some suggestions:
Using Google Docs or a closed social media group or an in person
group:
Respond to the Question of the Week in just a few sentences. Each
newsletter has one focus question.
Take a photo each week of students doing something related to
your Personalized Professional Development
Respond in a few sentences each week to: What does this make
me think about or want to do?
What is one action I will take this week?
I am a better teacher this week than I was last week because I. . .
