Contrasts and Contradictions is

When youre reading and a character says or does

something that is opposite (contradicts) what he/she
has been saying or doing all along or when a
character does something that surprises you.
When you notice this, you should STOP and ask
yourself:
WHY is the character doing that?

The answers to these questions could help you make a prediction or make an
inference about the plot and the conflict (problem).

doesnt expect. It is surprising to you as the reader.
