Year goals:
Students will achieve 100% of their individual growth goals.
Growth goals will be determined at the beginning of the school year once students take a sample
High School Placement 1 Spanish Exam (along with other tracking mechanisms).
Students are preparing for the High School Placement 1 Spanish Exam in Middle School with
the hope that at the end of 8th grade they can pass this exam and receive high school Spanish 1
credit. Therefore, they can advance to Spanish 2 or take another course in its place if optional
during their first year of high school.
As a class we strive for students to score an average of 80% on exit slips.
Exit slips are important because they demonstrate comprehension of class material.
If a student is absent he/she MAY NOT make up the exit slip for a grade but is expected to have
completed the exit slip for their binder check.
100% of students will participate in class speaking Spanish 80% of that time.
Not only is this an immersion based course, but it is a welcoming environment where students
will learn from one another.
Students will read a Spanish level 1 novel this year, Patricia va a California.
Students will free write at least once a week for 5 minutes and be able to write more words
and better sentences by the end of the year.
Students will understand why Spanish is important to learn.
Students will be able to compare and contrast Spanish speaking cultures and customs to
their own.
Students will have the opportunity to speak to numerous native Spanish speakers
(classroom guests and Skype sessions).
Students will apply organizational skills by keeping a Spanish binder up to date.
Students will be given rigorous material, but hopefully will also have fun in Spanish class.
