My Experiences with Vel Maaral

I was first introduced to Vel Maaral Mahamantram through a Paarayana
book of my brothers mother-in-law, a very pious lady herself about 20
years ago. The book was published by Sri. Sadhuram Swamigal, a great
poet and disciple of Sri Vallimalai Satchidananda Swamigal. I also had the
blessing of reading about the life histories of Sri Seshadri Swamigal,
Bagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi and Sri Vallimalai Swamigal in Arunachala
Mahimai written by Sri Bharanidharan and serialised in Ananda Vikatan
more than 40 years ago. The power of Vel Maaral Mahamantram was well
described in the books and how Madras was saved from the ravages of
World War II by Sri Vallimalai Swamigal exhorting devotees to chant
Thiruppugazh and Vel Maaral regularly evoked wonder in me. As we are
not fortunate to see Sri Vallimalai Swamigal in life or hear His
Thiruppugazh Bhajans, His Thiruppugazh Paarayana Thirumurai and Vel
Maaral books are our guides and protectors in this world. I was very happy
to know that Saint Arunagirinathar composed Three Vaguppu Noolkal
called Seerpatha Vaguppu, Devendrasanga Vaguppu and Vel Vaguppu
which respectively are Mani, Mantra and Aushada Vaguppugal required for
our health and wellbeing in this world. Sri Vallimalai Satchidananda
Swamigal in His infinite Grace, gave us Vel Maaral Mahamantram from
Saint Arunagirinathars Vel Vaguppu. I have done Paarayanam of Vel
Vaguppu and Vel Maaral on many occasions without any expectations and
only sought Lord Murugas Grace. Lord Murugas Grace is the Power of Vel
Maaral. It gives us the Ultimate Gnanam and Shakthi, roots out all evils
and protects us at all times. Ultimately it leads to self realisation also.
However I have in the past, told many friends and relatives about Vel
Maaral Paarayanam and requested them to chant daily with devotion for
48 days(one mandalam) continuously in times of distress and told them
that good will happen. I give below some true incidents which happened
to them:
1. My nephew was working in United Arab Emirates and was newly
married. For almost a year, his wife was not able to join him due to
difficulties in getting family visa. She chanted Vel Maaral regularly
for 48 days and on the 48th day of Paarayanam, she received the
news that her visa was granted. She travelled to UAE in a short time
and joined her husband. They are living happily in India with two
children now.
2. One doctor friend was having many family problems. On my telling
him, he started Vel Maaral Paarayanam and continues even now

regularly. His wife got a Post Graduate M.D. (Paediatrics) seat,

completed her studies and is an active child specialist now. They
had two girls as children. They completed Medicine and Engineering
courses respectively and are happily married. Even the doctor friend
suffered a major illness and completely recovered thanks to Vel
Maaral Paarayanam by his wife.
3. A senior official in the Port Authority of India, another close friend is
a very pious man. His wife is also very devoted to God and her
family. He started Vel Maaral Paarayanam casually and continued
regularly. Before he completed a Mandalam, he got the news that he
got extension of his service by two more years upto age 60 , he
being supposed to retire shortly at age 58. Not only that. He was
also to take charge of one National Port itself on promotion. Kaliyil
Kankanda Slogam was what he spontaneously told me. His family
came across a great Saint Sri Thiruvadi Thuli Swamigal who has an
ashram called Anbin Kudil near Erode. This great Mahatma
continues to bless us all by His Grace.
In these days of rank materialism, the only way for salvation is to do
maximum possible good at ones own level, in word, thought and deed.
Later one should surrender to the Will and Grace of God. Vel Maaral
Paaraayanam whether done for a purpose(Kaamiyam) or for world welfare
or without any expectations whatsoever(Nishkaamiyam) , whether done
by oneself or by someone else on ones behalf, brings the highest good to
us all. Vel Maaral protects us always and through the Grace of Vallimalai
Vallal Thiruppugazh Swamigal, takes us to the path of salvation and attain
Skanda Saayujyam!
