Student Objective
Student Objective Questions:
1.

Reflect: What are your short/long term goals (academic, career, & personal)? You may include your
ideal career in engineering or your preferred working environment.

2.

As you choose your General Education courses (to satisfy your degree requirements),
please describe how the courses will help you to develop as a professional engineer. You
may highlight skills and knowledge as listed in the University Catalog course descriptions.
( Check for spelling and grammatical errors - Must be minimum of three paragraphs)

I would like to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering here at Iowa State University. I would eventually like
to also come back to earn my Master's Degree. While here at Iowa State, I would like to get an internship to make myself
more marketable for companies who may want to hire me. I would like to have some job offers arranged upon me
graduating. I would like to obtain a job that offers a good starting salary with options to move up in position. I would
prefer if the job required me to use the skills I have learned over the course of my academic career on a regular basis. I
would also prefer to work among others, however I am perfectly capable of working as an individual.
Over the course of the next couples years, I would like to get more involved at Iowa State. I believe that getting involved
would not only be enjoyable, but it would also appeal to potential hirers. Also, I need to find opportunities that would
display my leadership abilities. Leadership is a good skill to have in general and it will also help me get a better job. I
wish to hone the skills I already possess as well as develop new skills while I am here at Iowa State.
The general education courses that I have taken all deal with human behavior in some way, shape, or form. Not only do
these classes interest me, but I believe I can apply the knowledge that I gain from them in a business setting. These classes
should help further develop people skills, which will help in dealing with business clients. I am also learning a lot on how
the human brain works and makes decisions, which I could apply to a business aspect of engineering. Overall taking these
classes will make me a well rounded and knowledgeable employee.
