-- impact with the earth can cause lots of damage.
-- they heat up as they pass through the atmosphere.

Tunguska Event of 1908 massive explosion which caused the destruction of an


estimated 80 million trees.
-- explosive force is estimated to have been 1000 times that of the
atom bomb dropped in Hiroshima.
