Objective
Objective of the research is to study the
awareness and consumer behaviour while
consuming/purchasing ayurvedic, allopathic
and homeopathic medicines.

Research Methodology
Data collection
Primary data was collected from consumers
(about 40 consumers with in age group of
20-75 yr.)
Secondary data was collected from internet.

Traditional system of medicines

Herbal drugs constitute a major share of all the
officially recognized system of health in India
viz. Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy and
Naturopathy except allopathic.

Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a part of
eastern medical system.
Thousands of old Indian
system.
Depends upon medicinal
plants.

Allopathic
Part of western medical system.
Drug oriented.
Depends upon hypothesis and
experiments.

Findings
More than 40% people were satisfied with the
efficacy of ayurvedic drugs.
A large portion of population prefers
allopathic medicine in case of emergency due
to easy availability and fast relief.

Conclusion
After an analysis of response received it has been
concluded that the people are more aware about
the Ayurvedic and Allopathic medicines.

Hence, scientific knowledge of the allopathic drugs

has to be transmitted out in a systematic manner to
compete the international market and provide
consumer satisfaction.
