Cohort/ Context Description

Course Overview:

This program has been developed for the Year 1, 2 and 3 students at
ACC Darling Downs with the following demographic.

The English course for Year 1, 2 and 3 students will focus on

facilitating lessons in the topics of literacy, writing, speaking and
literature. In Term 1, grammar lessons will enable students to define
and identify common nouns, proper nouns and pronouns. In Term 2,
students will extend their knowledge on grammar concepts and
learn about adjectives (define, identify and use adjectives to
enhance meaning) and the correct use of common punctuation
marks. The genres in focus for Term 1 and 2 will be persuasive texts
and information reports respectively. Students will engage in
weekly diary writing (routine task) and sharing news which
enable them to build skills relating to recounts both in written texts
and oral presentations.
